How to Get Ability Shield in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Currently in a serious relationship with my Ability

If you’re used to online battling in Pokemon, you know how each ability plays perfectly into your defined strategy. Having it changed suddenly can be game-breaking to a team, so having a way to avoid that is essential for certain species. This is not something you see happening very often during regular story play or while doing other activities such as filling the Pokedex or Shiny hunting, but it’s one of the many threats out there.

And if you’re looking for something that can avoid that from happening completely, Ability Shield’s the item for you. It can completely prevent your ability from being changed and can be obtained fairly early into the game. Here’s how you can get Ability Shield in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Where to Find Ability Shield in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Ability Shield can be bought as soon as you start the game in the Delibird Presents store in Mesagoza. The store is located on the city’s east side, and the item will be available without collecting any badges.

It costs 20,000 Pokedollars, but that’s a small price to pay for having that good of an advantage for competitive play. I don’t think any new player would end up spending all of their hard-earned money on it by mistake as soon as the game started, but that’s probably bound to happen with someone.

You can buy as many of it as you want, but as you may have already guessed, Ability Shield is more of a niche item instead of a staple such as Choice Scarf/Specs, so you’re not going to be using it very often. One unit should be more than enough for your team.

And that’s it for Ability Shield. If you’re interested in more Pokemon Scarlet and Violet content, we have plenty of these here on Prima Games. Good luck on your journey, trainers!
