Out of all of the new weapons added in Chapter 5, Season 1 of Fortnite, the Ballistic Shield may be one of the most powerful. Let’s find out where we can get our hands on this particular piece of equipment and why it’s so good.
Where to Get the Ballistic Shield in Fortnite
The Ballistic Shield is a new weapon added to Fortnite, offering both defensive protection and offensive prowess. You’ll find the Ballistic Shield in Loot Chests spread throughout the maps or in Vaults after defeating the Society members and claiming all of the goodies within. As they are considered a Rare Drop, they’re not going to be very easy to find, so consider keeping a spot open in your inventory to get your hands on one once you find it.
If you’re lucky enough to get the drop on an opponent that is using one, you can also Loot this weapon off of them once they have been defeated. Since the Ballistic Shield offers a great amount of defense from the front, you may want to scope them out for a while and find out the perfect way to get the drop on them from either the sides or the rear.
Can You Use Weapons With the Ballistic Shield in Fortnite?
If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on the Ballistic Shield, either from a Loot Chest Drop or an enemy, you’ll also be strapped with a pistol to ensure you can cause some damage. While exploring the map, ensure you’re keeping your eyes peeled for Light Ammo, as the Pistol equipped with the Ballistic Shield can only use this type of ammo.
You can also dash toward enemies while using the Ballistic Shield to cause some damage and bump them back in the process. This gives you a great opportunity to create some distance so that you can use the Shield to its full extent.
Can the Ballistic Shield Break in Fortnite?
Now, the Ballistic Shield may sound like a broken weapon to have in your inventory, but can it be broken if you unload enough bullets into it? Thankfully, the Ballistic Shield has a total of 350HP, so you can eventually break it if you continue focusing fire on it. A couple of well-placed Sniper Rounds will do the trick if you’re hoping to dispatch an enemy that is holding onto it.
Do note, however, if the Shield breaks, it’s done for. You can’t continue using it after this point, so you’ll want to find another Shield as quickly as possible. It helps it from feeling too OP, even if you’ll miss it once it’s gone.
