Warhammer 40K: Darktide gives you a healthy arsenal of toys to play with. From something as simple as a standard sword to something as complex as an arm-mounted grenade launcher, whatever you’d like should be available to you depending on your chosen class. For the Psyker class, one of the most hyped-up weapons is the Psyker Staff, though with it not being the base ranged weapon, it may leave you a tad confused. Here’s how to get and use the Psyker Staff in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.
How to Get the Psyker Staff in Darktide
You’ll be surprised to learn that the Psyker Staff is not a single weapon in Darktide, but rather a set of several staffs that each have their strengths and weaknesses. These are the Trauma Force Staff, Surge Force Staff, Voidstrike Force Staff, and Purgatus Force Staff. You can unlock each staff between the fifth trust level and trust level 15. After each level that they’re unlocked, they will begin appearing in the Armory Exchange and Sire Melk’s Requisitorium.
How to Use the Psyker Staff
When it comes to using each weapon, they each have different attacks. The Trauma, Surge, and Voidstrike staffs all have the same single-shot attack, while their alternate fire will either create an explosive area, cause chain lightning, or send an explosive projectile (in that order). The final staff, Purgatus, has a short burst of fire as its primary attack and continuous flames as its secondary attack.

With all this in mind, you’ll want to choose a staff based on what feels best to you and fits your playstyle best. Whether you feel like you lack in horde-clearing or want something more equipped for killing specials, that will change the staff you choose. Regardless, you’ll want to play behind your frontline Zealot or Ogryn, as the rather squishy health pool of the Psyker means frontlining will likely result in your death. Otherwise, make sure to watch your Peril meter or else you’ll be more of a detriment than a help.
