There are few places as idyllic in Fire Emblem Engage than the Somniel, the floating island you call home. Not only is this bucolic slice of paradise set far away from the world-weary war waging far below, it’s a place absolutely rife with activities to take part in. And if you want to take your turn-based strategy / dating sim and turn it into a cozy game, you’ll want to head to the pond and start fishing. Here is how to get some of the better fishing rods in Fire Emblem Engage.
How to Get Better Fishing Rods in Fire Emblem Engage
Fishing is an activity that becomes available to you once you’ve recruited Crown Prince Diamant in Chapter 8. Diamant is a hero full of angst and determination, but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have the time to teach you how to fish.
Head to the pond and speak to whoever is there at the time, and they’ll summon the Crown Prince himself, who will dutifully watch you catch a variety of minnows and judge you on their size. But did you know it’s possible to get a rod better than mediocre?
Well, I mean, you’d hope so, right?

There are two other tiers available: Sturdy and Supreme. But these rods will remain doggedly elusive for a significant period after you’ve unlocked the pond.
In Chapter 12, you’ll unlock the Flea Market, a shop tended to by Anna and Princess Timerra. And while it won’t initially have anything beyond ingots and gifts. But return after Completing Chapter 12 to obtain the Sturdy Rod.
The final fishing rod, the Supreme Rod, will become available after you complete Chapter 21. You’re deep in the game by this point, but this is also likely the point where a fishing break is all the more important.
