There are trainers that use purely offensive attacks, and then there are trainers that meticulously raise the stats of their Pokemon using stat boosting moves until they’ve transcended into Gods, capable of reigning down destruction that could split the world in two.
Calm Mind is one of those moves. This attack, which can be learned by leveling through egg moves or Technical Machines, boosts its users’ Special Attack and Special Defense by one stage per use. This can be stacked 6 times, with each added +1 to Special Attack or Special Defense, providing a 50% boost.

If you’re in for a long fight, Calm Mind offers significant benefits that outpace spamming a strong offensive move. But how can you get Calm Mind for yourself if your Pokemon doesn’t learn it naturally?
Fortunately, in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Calm Mind is a technical machine that any trainer can get their hands on.
How to Get Calm Mind TM in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
The Paldea Region is full of items that can be found scattered across the world. Usually in the form of sparkling items and red or chartreuse Pokeballs. Many TMs, found in the latter form, can be found in the wild.
Calm Mind is fortunately one of those items. There are two locations where it can be found.
South Province Area Five Watch Tower
Travel to the South Province Area Five Watch Tower, then travel North-West to the nearby pond. You’ll see a golden beam indicating a terastallized Pokemon. On the shores of this small pond is the first Calm Mind TM. This TM is reachable without progress through the Arven’s storyline.
North Province Area Two
Head to the North Province Area Two Pokecenter. You’ll technically be going “off map”, into the grayed out area to the East. But the map isn’t actually fully accurate. You’ll need to be able to climb, then head into the mountains in the East. Calm Mind will be on a platform. Expect to run into both high level Pokemon but also plenty of great items, including high-tier healing items, nuggets, ultra balls, and even two other TMs, Amensia and Psyshock.
Because this area is greyed out, it can be much more difficult to tell where this TM is, making the South Province location an easier claim.
Good luck finding that TM, trainer!
