How to Get Face Cam in Roblox

This reminds me of VRChat a bit.

Roblox now has a cool feature where you can turn on your virtual face cam in the corner of your screen. In addition to that, your webcam can be used to recognize your facial movements (eyes, eyebrows, nose, mouth for example) and have your in-game character mimic them as much as possible. It’s a concept that’s not new and exists in some other video games, but it’s super awesome to have it in Roblox as well. Here’s what you need to do in order to get your Face Cam up and running in Roblox.

How to Enable Face Cam in Roblox

Before we proceed, make sure that your webcam is plugged in and enabled, and double-check if it works in any other application. Also, please be aware that this feature will only work if your age is over 13 in Roblox.

When you go to Settings -> Privacy on Roblox Website you will need to scroll down just a little bit and you will spot the Camera Input section.

When this is done, you will need to locate a Roblox Experience that has this feature enabled. Most of them sadly, still don’t have it. You always need to double-check the Experience page, namely the “Communications” part where you will see if the Microphone and Camera are enabled.

Then, when you jump into such an Experience, you will be able to hit Escape on your keyboard and find the camera icon in the top-left corner. It will usually be crossed out as disabled, but you can enable it by simply clicking on it. When you do that, and click the button that’s right next to it (right from where the arrow is pointing in the screenshot), your virtual face cam should appear in the top-left corner, from where you can drag it with your mouse.

Voila! That’s it, you should be good to go.

If you think this Face Cam feature is a big thing for Roblox, wait ’til you see what’s possible with the VR gadgets in I downloaded Roblox on my Meta Quest 2 and ascended into the Metaverse, if you are up for more Roblox reads from Prima Games.
