The Cutter is one of Starfield’s more underrated weapons, as it can make quick work of low level enemy health bars without consuming ammo. However, there is one variant of the weapon called “Heller’s Cutter” that can be found very early in Starfield that includes an additional damage perk. Here is how to find Heller’s Cutter in Starfield.
Heller’s Cutter Location in Starfield
Heller’s Cutter can be obtained during the main story mission “Back to Vectera.” In order to access this mission, you will need to have completed “One Small Step” and “The Old Neighborhood” first. The mission tasks players with returning to Vectera, the mining outpost where they started the game.

Vectera is found in the Narion System and is part of the Freestar Collective faction.
Land at the Argos Extractors Mining Outpost.
Upon arrival at Vectera, you will find Lin waiting for you. You will have to speak with her to continue the quest and find the weapon.
After speaking with Lin, head into the building on the right through the door. You will need to flip the switch to the right for the door to open.
Once inside, go through the doorway on the right side.
Once through the right side door, you will see a Cutter Crate. This is where Heller’s Cutter is found.
Inside the Cutter Crate’s compartment, you can acquire the rare heavy weapon.
Heller’s Cutter has very similar stats to the base version of the cutter but adds an advantage while in combat against robotic enemies, as the mining tool includes the Disassembler Perk, which provides a 20% damage bonus against robots.
To recap, do the following to find Heller’s Cutter.
- Start the Mission “Back to Vectera”
- Travel to the Narion System
- Land on the Argos Extractors Mining Outpost on Vectera
- Talk to Lin
- Head inside the mining outpost building on the right side
- Find the Heller’s Cutter Rare Heavy weapon in a Cutter Crate through the door on the right
