It’s always nice to see that the Crash franchise is still alive and kicking. The next entry in the franchise was surprise-announced during The Game Awards 2022 as Crash Team Rumble, a competition game where teams of 4 players fight off to see who can grab the most Wumpa Fruits while engaging in your average Crash shenanigans.
This is not a usual platformer like Crash Bandicoot 4, but incorporates many of those elements to make for an engaging gameplay experience against other rumblers. A Closed Beta period was recently announced for the game, and here’s what you need to do to get into it.
How to Play the Crash Team Rumble Closed Beta
The initial Beta testing for the game will be available only for those who pre-order Crash Team Rumble for either PS4, PS5, Xbox One, or Series X|S. The beta runs from April 20 to April 24, and all players can access it independently of their game edition.
The Standard Version costs $29,99 and gives you the following:
- The full Crash Team Rumble game
- Unlocks the Premium Battle Pass for Season 1
- Closed beta access starting April 20
- The ‘Retro Threads’ Tawna Skin
Deluxe Version ranks that value up to $39,99 to offer all of the above bonuses and a few additionals:
- Premium Battle Pass unlock for seasons 1 + 2
- 25 Tier instant unlock for season 1 Premium Battle Pass
- The Digital Proto Pack, which includes the following:
- 8 ‘Blocky’ hero skins
- ‘Blocky’ score FX
- ‘Pixelated’ shadow
- Unique banner
- ‘Blocky’ hat
- ‘Blocky’ backpack
- ‘Get on my level’ in-game victory music

So yeah, there are a lot of extras for getting that game a few months earlier. This is still a Beta test, though, so bugs and problems are to be expected before the game’s actual full release on June 20.
There are no signs of a PC release announcement, but don’t lose your hopes just yet. Crash 4 wasn’t a console exclusive after all, so there are some strong reasons to believe that Team Rumble will eventually be playable on PC at a later date.
