The Protector item in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Indigo Disk is crucial for evolving certain Pokemon, particularly when initiating Rhyhorn’s evolution to Rhyperior. Let’s talk about how to get this important evolution item.

Where to Get Protector in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Indigo Disk

You can buy the Protector evolution item in the Blueberry Academy League Club store for 250 BP. In this shop, you’ll spot items like Protector, Electirizer, and Magmarizer, which are all valuable for evolving your Pokemon. Alternatively, you can buy EXP candies and other useful consumables.

Since it costs 250 BP, you’ll have to complete numerous BBQs to afford the item or hop in a group and work together to grind some points. Keep an eye on how many you have to ensure you can afford other upgrades you need in the future!

How to Get BP in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Indigo Disk

Before purchasing Protector in the Indigo Disk DLC, you’ll need BP, which you can get by finishing Blueberry Quests or BBQs. After visiting the League Club Room for the first time, you’ll unlock these objectives that grant you anywhere from 20 to 600 BP, depending on the quest type.

Typically, you’ll have access to blue quests that give you around 20 to 30 BP, with red quests rewarding over 100 and Union Circle-exclusive gold quests granting up to 600. It’s worth grouping up with other players to finish these and grind points faster if you plan on buying numerous evolution items.

How to Evolve Rhydon Using Protector in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Indigo Disk

Evolving Rhydon into Rhyperior in The Indigo Disk requires having your Pokemon hold the Protector item before trading with another player. Giving your Protector-wielding Rhydon to someone triggers the evolution, leading Rhydon to turn into Rhyperior. From here, they’ll have to return Rhyperior so it registers in your Pokedex.

You have two ways to do this: trade with someone you trust or who also has Rhydon. If you trade the same Pokemon holding Protector, you’ll receive Rhyperior and not have to worry about a second trade. However, if only one of you has Rhydon, you’ll want to make sure you’re swapping with someone you trust to be certain you’ll get the Pokemon back later.
