Girafarig has been a part of the Pokemon GO community for years, giving trainers an excellent bullseye when they need to hit those ‘Excellent’ throws. But in 2023, Girafarig finally made its shiny debut. So, if you’ve been desperate to see your Girafarig with a blue snout and a brown butt, your dreams might just come true.
Here’s how to get shiny Girafarig in Pokemon GO:
- Wild Uncommon Spawns
- Occasionally as a Research Task Reward
And… yeah, that’s it. Currently, Girafarig can’t be found in the egg pool or raids, which means that your only hope is to encounter it in the wild. This can be made easier during the yearly Psychic Spectacular.
In 2023, the Psychic Spectacular will run from September 20, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, September 24.
During this timeframe, Girafarig (including shiny Girafarig!) will be much more common. So this is a great time to use Pokelures on adjacent Pokestops to really up your chances.
Unfortunately, finding a Shiny Girafarig relies entirely on luck. There’s only a 1 in 500 chance that the Girafarig you’ll stumble upon is Shiny. But you can boost your odds of finding this Psychic Type by using a Lure or Daily Incense.
If you’re curious whether you can get Girafarig’s evolved form, Farigiraf, the answer is that currently, you can’t. But as Pokemon GO integrates more and more Generation 9 Pokemon, we may see Farigiraf sooner rather than later.
