The Orbital update in No Man’s Sky brings plenty of changes to Space Stations and customization, and one of those changes includes Starship Reactors. If you want to get started on your own customization, you’ll need some of this tech to get back in space. Here’s how to get Starship Reactors in No Man’s Sky.
No Man’s Sky: How to Get Starship Reactor Cores
Speak to the Ship Technology vendor on any Space Station to purchase a Starship Reactor with Nanites. In the Orbital update, each station will be procedurally generated based on the system you’re currently in. That means it’s nearly impossible to give you an exact location of the merchant. However, the new vendors for the Orbital update and old vendors like the Starship Upgrades merchant are guaranteed to appear somewhere on the station.
When you reach a Ship Technology vendor, there will be four different types of Starship Reactors based on standard ship classes: C Class, B Class, A Class, and S Class as the best option. C Class reactors will cost a measly 300 Nanites by default and the S Class will require 12,000 Nanites at a base level. Prices aren’t always a static concept in No Man’s Sky, though. Your standing with the merchant can cut the price of Starship Reactors in half.
Once you have the reactor you need, head to the Starship customization on the Space Station and slot the technology. If you’re in the same area and you want to scrap some of the Starships you may own, just keep in mind that reactors won’t be one of the technology pieces that you can salvage. Only one item can be salvaged at a time and they are typically smaller pieces. So if it’s the reactor core change you need, head back to the vendor.
Take advantage of the ship customization that arrived in the No Man’s Sky Orbital update.
