The three time-gated Exotic Fish have all been unveiled. And in the EDZ, players will finally be able to grab the Aeonian Alpha-Betta. This fish, very much inspired by the betta fish we can find in fish tanks today, is as gorgeous as it is elusive. Here’s how to get the Aeonian Alpha-Betta Exotic Fish in Destiny 2.
How to Get the Aeonian Alpha-Betta Exotic Fish in Destiny 2
The Season of the Deep has offered players one of the best, non-shooting-based activities in Destiny 2: fishing. And to commemorate your catches, you can bring those fishes back to the H.E.L.M. where they’ll be displayed in all their splishy splashy glory. The Aeonina Alpha-Betta is the last fish to be unlocked in the Season of the Deep, and it brings us back to familiar territory.
Like the very first Exotic fish that was ever unveiled, the Aeonian Alpha-Betta can only be found in the EDZ. Head to the Outskirts, and you’ll find a blue beam marking the nearest pond. If there isn’t a blue beam, or a bunch of Guardian nameplates clustered together, it’s possible that an event just happened.
If that’s the case, just wait and a new pond should spawn soon.

When it comes to catching the Aeonian Alpha-Betta, patience is key. While fishing in groups and increasing your fish meter has proven to not help much, it does increase your odds slightly. It’s also more fun! Once you catch the Aeonian Alpha-Betta, you just need to take it to the H.E.L.M. aquarium, where you can release it. Upon doing so, you’ll get an Exotic piece of armor and the Broken Blade of Cunning.
This Broken Blade is part of a set. If you’d like to know more about how to find these Broken Blades and where to put them, check out our guide here: All Deep Dive Secrets in Destiny 2.
