After getting the Wrench in Amnesia: The Bunker, you certainly won’t stop building your private tool shed in the Administrator’s Room. You gotta get more tools to progress through the Story Mode, and what better tool to pick up, than the Chain Cutters? I’ll show you how to get your very own Chain Cutters in Amnesia: The Bunker, so that you can give yourself access to more rooms in the game and get even cooler stuff!
Where to Find the Chain Cutters in Amnesia: The Bunker
Oh, right, forgot to tell you: If you don’t have it yet, here’s how you can get the Wrench. It’s kind of a prerequisite for this task. Now, let’s move to the Prison. As you leave the Generator room, which should be running, take the right turn from the Administrator’s Office. Open the door and turn left, and then immediately right. Run down the hallway, moving past the Storage, and don’t turn anywhere. Eventually, you’ll be “loading” the Prison level.

As you wander through the Prison, you’ll see the Room that contains the map of the Prison. You can break the door or just use our map of the Bunker to get along. As you wander even further, you will see cells, and you will hear a German Prisoner yelling for help, or something along those lines. You will also notice a big room that’s barred from all ends, which is the control room. The control room can be accessed via a vent from the back. When you look from the perspective of the screenshot below, the vent is on the right, and the cells are in the front.
How to Open Prison Cell Doors in Amnesia: The Bunker
The idea is to open the cell doors by flicking the switches on the control board that you see in the screenshot above. Useful loot is lying around, along with the Chain Cutters, which are sitting next to the German Prisoner. Then, you should run for your life, because after you pick up the Chain Cutters, a scripted appearance of the Beast will happen. You can hide in the rooms that are near the vent entrance, or you can “kite” the beast around the control room and, while it’s crawling through the vent, you can make a run for it through the door to the safety of your Administrator’s Room.
