To start down the Public Relations branch and work with journalists, head onto any computer, select Social Networking and pick Network with Journalists. Your character will sit at their desk to work and, after some brief typing, will gain at least 150 followers. If your attempt is successful, you’ll also receive a “Strong Networking Skills” focused moodlet.

While networking with journalists mainly appears as a Work from Home assignment or daily task, you can also do this to boost your follower count and gain a focused moodlet. However, like other social networking tasks, there is a chance it’ll flop, giving you no followers.

It was surprisingly effective and got me through my first few promotions without issues.
