Cyberpunk 2077 is first and foremost a first-person shooter, meaning you’ll be spending most of your time in the eyes of V. This is helpful for getting immersed and feeling as though you’re in the battles you come across, though some people still prefer a different perspective. However, getting that perspective comes with some pretty hefty caveats. Here’s how to play Cyberpunk 2077 in third-person mode.
How to Go Into Third Person in Cyberpunk 2077
Before we get started, I want to make it clear out of the gate that going into third-person in Cyberpunk 2077 on consoles is impossible. Outside of driving cars around, there’s no way to place your camera in third person. This is unfortunate, but the reasons for allowing it on PC will become clear in just a moment.
As for those of you who play Cyberpunk 2077 on PC, third-person mode isn’t supported natively (on a fresh install). However, third person is a possibility through the power of mods. By installing the JB – TPP Mod from its NexusMods page, you’ll be able to set up a fairly decent third-person mode. It isn’t over-the-shoulder similar to something like Gears of War, but it is capable enough.
Will Cyberpunk 2077 Ever Get a Native Third-Person Mode?
While the developers haven’t denied the possibility of a native third-person mode being included in Cyberpunk 2077, it’s highly unlikely. With the 2.0 update, there won’t be a native third-person mode included. Given how there likely won’t be updates of this caliber in the future, I wouldn’t get your hopes up. Still, the chance isn’t zero. If they ever do add in a third-person mode, we’ll be sure to update this article to reflect that.
