How to Play With Friends in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Pokemon games have always let you battle and trade with your friends. However, in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the team at Game Freak has extended the multiplayer to include new systems and mechanics. Here is how to play with your friends in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: How to Play With Friends

Once you’re in the game, have obtained your partner Pokemon, and have taken your first steps into your journey in the Paldea region, you’ll unlock the ability to play with friends.

To play with your friends, you’ll need to hit the X button to open up the main menu. From here, you then click on “Poke Portal” which will take you to the online functionality of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Click on the “Union Circle” option. This is where you’ll be able to do things like play with friends in offline mode, form groups, and more.

If you’re trying to connect to friends over the internet, click the “Online Mode” option; this will allow you to form a group and access a Link Code. Send your Link Code to friends to let them join your game.

If you’re trying to join a friend’s group, click the “Join a Group” option and then type in the Link Code they have provided you with. Once everyone is in a group, you will allow load up at a nearby Pokemon Center.

You can also access the Union Circle at a Pokemon Center if you’d rather do it through there than the menu for some reason.

Other things you can do with friends through the “Poke Portal” are as follows:

  • Tera Raid Battle
  • Link Trade
  • Surprise Trade
  • Link Battle
  • Battle Stadium
