Season 1 of Diablo 4 is coming mid-to-late July, so now’s the time to start thinking of how best to prepare. With Season 1 we can expect some new content (how much is still up in the air), along with quality of life and balance changes – some of which were mentioned in the first Campfire Chat with the developers on Twitch.
So as we gear up – no pun intended – for Season 1, let’s take a look at how best to prep for it in Diablo 4.
Diablo 4 – Picking a Class for Season 1
Most importantly, you’ll want to choose a class to play. Remember, you have to make a new character to play Seasonal content and progress the Seasonal Battlepass. Don’t get too heartbroken, though, because when the season ends your character joins any existing characters on the Eternal Realm.

Another thing worth considering, if you care about this sort of thing, is which class has cosmetics you like from the Seasonal Battlepass. I’m planning on playing Barbarian, but if there are, say, super cool rewards for Necromancers in the pass, I might decide to switch.
Finish Uncovering the Map and Getting Altars of Lilith
As confirmed in the aforementioned livestream, map progress and Altars of Lilith are staying unlocked for your Seasonal characters, including the Renown they award. This is a tangible way to make progress in the season before it even starts, so make sure you grab those altars and uncover the entire map.
Honestly? That’s about it. The only Renown you can pre-unlock is mentioned above, and everything else will be reset in the Seasonal Realm, so don’t sweat too much about being a certain level or even unlocking World Tiers if you haven’t gotten around to it.
