Warhammer 40K: Darktide recently released its first major post-launch update, bringing a few cool gameplay features and highly-requested changes. One of these features is Private Matches, which allow you to start an invite-only session provided at least one other person is in your party. Another such feature is a little confusing to find, let alone understand. Here’s how to refine an item in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.
What is the Refine Item Feature in Darktide?
Finding the Refine Item feature is relatively easy if you’re already done a bit of weapon crafting. When spawning in the Mourningstar, take an immediate right and speak to Hadron at the Shrine of the Omnissiah. Once in the menu, select Entreat Hadron and then Refine Item. This will bring up the Refine Item UI, allowing you to select either a ranged weapon, melee weapon, or Curio to refine it.
Refine Item allows you to reroll one of the minor perks on whatever item you want. These small diamond perks give flat bonuses, appearing on all weapons from blue to orange. To do so, select the item and the perk you wish to reroll. For a small fee, Hadron will reroll it into something new with one major caveat. Whatever perk you reroll is the only perk you’ll be able to reroll, as it locks all other perks out. As such, make sure you choose a weapon with other good perks before rerolling the one.

That’s all there is to it. Minus some slight changes in reroll cost through both Plasteel and Diamantine, it’s that simple. We’d advise only using this on the weapons and Curios you’re looking to keep, as it’ll save you resources in the long run. More specifically, only use it on orange items that already have a very high Rating, or items you’ve leveled from white to orange for those juicy few Rating points.
