How to Solve the Boiler Room Puzzle in Atomic Heart

The boiler room puzzle / Into the Fire puzzle has stumped many people, and for good reason. When you first arrive in the boiler room, you’ll meet a few Lab Tech bots who are a little worse for the wear. They’re clearly affected by the heat of the three sweltering boilers in the room, and they’re easy enough to sneak up on disassemble. Do this because you want the room as clear as possible while you solve the puzzle.

And that includes clearing out the adjacent rooms, which will also have Lab Tech bots. Bots that have clearly… gone through some stuff. I can’t blame them for snapping this guy’s neck.

Once the rooms are clear, it’s important to note that, somehow, you will be attacked while you’re in the process of completing this puzzle. I don’t know where the lab tech bots come from, but they come from somewhere, and they’ll usually come for you once you insert a ball into the boiler.

But now that the environment is as clear as possible, head to the back of the boiler room. There, you’ll see that one of the boilers has exploded and in its innards is a stack of Fahrenheit candle orbs. Use your telekinesis to lift one, then carry it into the side room with all the modified lab techs.

There, against the wall, will be a chute you can insert the candle in.

Now… if you’re like me, you spent a truly miserable amount of time trying to insert the candle, angling your hand just right to insert the ball, only for it to never quite go in. If that happens to you, I’m sorry, but you need to reload. Atomic Heart has no shortage of bugs, and this is a frustrating one.

Otherwise, once you get within proximity to the chute the Fahrenheit candle will get sucked through the plastic and appear on the other side.

You’ll notice that it then appears in a clear tube, each of which connects to a boiler. If it’s not the puzzle that’s stumping you, but the mechanic, here’s the solution. You need to use your telekinesis to guide the candle to the boiler.

Press the interact button, then lead the candle to the overheating boiler.

Boiler 1

  • Guide the candle down
  • Guide the candle right
  • Follow the pipe until you reach a crossroad
  • Take the first right

The candle should drop into the boiler, cooling boiler 1. Go grab another Fahrenheit candle and start the process again.

Boiler 2

  • Guide the candle down
  • Guide the candle left
  • Keep the candle going left, not deviating its path or turning in any way

The candle should drop into the boiler, cooling boiler 2. Go grab another Fahrenheit candle and start the process again.

Boiler 3

This one is perhaps the most mechanically challenging. Go grab another Fahrenheit candle, insert it into the chute, and begin the last segment.

  • Guide the candle down
  • Guide the candle left
  • Guide the candle down
  • Follow this path a long time
  • At the first available left, take it. If you find it hard to get the candle to make the turn, reposition yourself so you’re almost under it. I find that makes it easier.
  • Guide the candle down the path

The candle should drop into the boiler, and you’ll get two more lab techs attacking you. But who cares! Because you’ve finally solved the boiler room puzzle.
