The Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 features a more open world than the linear maps of previous entries, and contains zones of enemies with varying difficulties. The high threat zones have better loot to get, so here is how to survive in them.
How to Handle High Threat Zones in MW3 Zombies
There are three zones on the Urzikstan map for Modern Warfare 3 Zombies. There is the neutral Tier 1 area for the outer edges of the map, the orange Tier 2 area more inward, and the red Tier 3 area in the center.
Enemies get progressively harder on each tier with increased health and damage, and players can recognize the enemy’s level with the number next to the health bar above their heads. While many players can handle the Tier 1 area without much difficulty, here are some tips on surviving in the higher threat zones.
Squad Up
There is strength in numbers, which is true for the higher tier zones. Make sure to have a full squad of three to have people watching your back. You can also invite more players to your squad in-game for a total squad of six people.
Upgrade Weapons
The Pack-a-Punch machine makes its return and is crucial to mow down zombies without wasting more ammo than you need to. Several machines around the map will upgrade your weapon three times with more damage and bigger magazines. It will cost more Essence for each upgrade, but is well worth the investment.
Get a Vehicle
Urzikstan is a huge open world; driving around in a vehicle is much more preferable than walking everywhere. Each Zombies game only lasts 60 minutes, so driving around makes complete contracts easier and safer.
Use Deadbolt Turrets
Deadbolt Turrets are also placed randomly around the map but can be a real lifesaver when overwhelmed with zombies. Activating these turrets will destroy all enemies in the nearby vicinity for about two minutes, which is perfect for getting more ammo or using the Buy Station uninterrupted.
