The False Son is the secret third character introduced in Risk of Rain 2 as part of the Seekers of the Storm expansion. This is a powerful character that players will have to face during the course of this expansion and eventually unlock as well. Here is how you can unlock the False Son in Risk of Rain 2.
Unlock the False Son in Risk of Rain 2 Seekers of the Storm
To unlock the False Son, you need to obtain the Halcyon Seed by defeating Aurelionite on the Gilded Coast, and then beating the False Son with the Halcyon Seed in your inventory.
Reach Gilded Coast
First, to make your way to the Gilded Coast, you can take either of the following routes:
- Either get very lucky and have an Altar of Gold spawn in one of the stages. Pray to it, and the Golden Portal will show up.
- You can keep visiting the Bazaar Between Time through the Blue Portal (by interacting with Newt Altars) for a chance to have the Golden Portal show up on the Lunar Seer which costs 3 lunar coins.
- Finally, in one of the later stages, you can also fully charge one of the new Halcyon Shrine which has a golden orb spinning around it. This will also spawn a Golden Portal.
From the three methods above, we recommend simply visiting the Bazaar Between Time a few times as that’s the easiest way to get to the Gilded Coast even if the chance of that Lunar Seer appearing is low.
Defeat Aurelionite and Obtain the Halcyon Seed
- Once you’re at the Gilded Coast, you need to beat Aurelionite, who will drop the Halcyon Seed.
- Upon defeating Aurelionite, a Green Portal will appear. Enter it.
Reach Prime Meridian and Fight the False Son
- After two more Green Portal stages, you will reach the Prime Meridian, which is the stage of the False Son boss fight.
- Make your way to the top and initiate the boss fight.
- If you manage to defeat him with the Halcyon Seed in your inventory, you will unlock the False Son as a playable character.
That’s all you have to do to unlock the False Son in Risk of Rain. The Seeker is available from the start, but the Chef also requires a bit more work, though not as much as the False Son.
