If you’ve played the first Dragon’s Dogma, you’ll know the game has a gloomy end. So, you may be surprised when you reach Dragon’s Dogma 2’s standard ending. Fortunately, there’s plenty of desperation, loss, and despair to go around during the true ending route, and here’s how to unlock it.
How to Flag the True End Path in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Warning: If you do not want spoilers, please do not read any further.
Two paths reward you with different endings in Dragon’s Dogma 2. With no knowledge of how to flag the true ending path, you will most likely naturally achieve the standard ending. All you have to do to complete this path is to play the game and beat it like normal. Once you beat the game, and the credits roll, you will have a choice of continuing your current save or starting a New Game +.
It’s up to you which way you want to go. The true ending path is significantly harder than the rest of the game. Don’t be like me and unlock the true ending path first, as it’s quite difficult. It’s a good idea to continue where you left off, level up, better equip yourself, and then attempt this path. But I can’t stop you if you want to run in guns blazing.
Before you can unlock the true ending path in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you will need to either:
- Be at the final point of the game, just before the final fight.
- Have beaten the final fight, continued your game, and spoken to the Pathfinder at the palace to return to the final fight.
When you are ready to go, start the final battle once again. This time, when flying to the final destination, crawl down the dragon’s body and make your way to its heart. When you are clinging to the heart, use the Godsbane on yourself. Now you will be on the true ending path, and there’s no going back.
The true end path is more challenging than the base game, so you must be well-prepared. Be it with quality equipment, healing items, ferrystones and wakestones, and a good set of pawns. But it’s a lot of fun, and the story it tells changes the way that you may have viewed it previously. Good luck!
