Mounts are a great way to travel long distances faster in open-world games, and unsurprisingly, Palworld allows players to do just this. Certain Pals will allow you to ride on them, but there are requirements that you need to meet in-game before doing so.
How to Ride Mounts in Palworld
There are various Pals that you can ride all over Palpagos Islands, and usually, they are rather obvious when you see them. Larger Pals such as steads, and even those that fly, are all potential mount options. There are two steps when it comes to using mounts in Palworld, catching the required Pal, and crafting the item necessary.
How to Find Which Pals Can Be Used as Mounts
An easy way to check which Pals you can use as a Mount is to go into the main menu and click on the Technology subheading. From here, scroll through the items and seek out the specific items that are used to ride each Pal.
You will need to have captured and registered a Pal in the Paldex to unlock the item in the Technology list.
Otherwise, here are three of the first available Mounts that you will come across in Palworld.
- Level 7 – Celaray with Celaray’s Gloves
- Level 9 – Direhowl with Direhowl’s Saddled Harness
- Level 12 -Eikthyrdeer with Eikthyrdeer Saddle
It is a good idea to catch as many different Pals as possible. Even if you are unable to ride them, many Pals have other uses linked to items, such as aiding in battle.
How to Craft Pal Gear in Palworld
Each Pal-specific item is locked behind a Technology level. Leveling up by interacting in your base, fighting Pals, and similar activities will allow you to reach those levels quickly and unlock the required item. Once you unlock it in the Technology interface, you will need to have built a Pal Gear Workbench from the Build menu to craft the specific item.
A Pal Gear Workbench requires the following resources to be constructed:
- 10 Paldium Fragments
- 30 Wood
- 2 Cloth (Use the Primitive Workbench to turn Wool into Cloth)
Once you have constructed the Pal Gear Workbench, interact with it and see a list of all of the Pal Gear that you have unlocked. Choose the specific item that you want from the list, and craft it. Once crafted, the item will automatically be placed into the Key Items section of your Inventory and will be able to be used at will.
How to Get Mounts in Palworld
When it comes to getting mounts in Palworld, you will need two things:
- Pal Sphere’s to catch Pals
- The appropriate level to craft the specific Pal Gear necessary for each mount
It may seem a little backwards, but you will have to have caught a Pal which can be used as a mount before you can see its Pal Gear in the Technology tab. Catching certain Pals unlocks certain Pal Gear, which means you will have to catch every Pal you see just in case. Plus, you’ll have the added benefit of filling up your Paldex.
Once you have crafted the Eikthyrdeer Saddle for example, you will be able to add an Eikthyrdeer to your party, send it out, and then you will have the ability to use it as a mount when you call it out into the overworld. It is advisable to try out different mounts, as they are more than cosmetic travel companions. When you are saddled on a mount, you can use their abilities, which provide benefits in and out of battle.
How to Ride, Glide, and Fly on Palworld Mounts
Once you have the required item crafted and the Pal in your Party, you are ready to go. Depending on which method of movement is required, the way to initiate the mount will be slightly different. For instance, if you want to use a Celaray as a glider, simply begin gliding as you usually would. By jumping, and immediately pressing the jump button again.
For regular mounts, when in your party, release them from their Pal Sphere and get close to them. When in range a notification will appear prompting you to press when ready to ride them. This seems to be a little finicky, especially when the Pal suddenly decides to go help with something. So, try to mount a Pal away from anything they can interact with at your base, and you will see more favorable results.
