If you’re like me, you’re easily distracted and have a lot on your plate. And that can wreak absolute havoc on being the most efficient trainer when it comes to Pokemon GO. Pokemon GO is a game that rewards you for logging in every day, doing a few tasks, and then going about your life, with the steps you take in real life helping the eggs you have your incubators hatch. Frequently, these eggs might land on the back burner (if they’re not outright forgotten), and you’ll lose valuable egg hatching time.
Fortunately, Nianatic has a solution for this in the form of a widget.
How to Use the Pokemon Go Egg Hatching Widget
This widget, actually called Adventure Sync: Egg, is a widget that tracks your egg-hatching progress when Pokemon GO is in the background. But how do you access it?
First, you’ll need to go to your widgets. Accessing your widgets will vary from phone to phone and you may have to look up how to do so for your specific model. But for my android phone, I need merely hold the screen and a menu bar will appear at the bottom of the screen. Among the options are widgets.
Select widgets and you’ll be presented with a variety of apps, each of which has their own widget you can possibly add to your phone. Scroll down to Pokemon GO, and you’ll see that it has two options available:
- Adventure Sync: Buddy – Use Adventure Sync to track your Buddy Pokemon’s heart meter when Pokemon GO is open in the background
- Adventure Sync: Eggs – Use Adventure Sync to track Egg-hatching progress when Pokemon GO is in the background
For our purpose, we’ll be using Adventure Sync: Eggs. Click it and you’ll be given the option to ‘add’. Do so and the widget will then pop up on the last menu screen of your phone. If you find it’s not working, make sure Adventure Sync is enabled in your Pokemon GO app by going into settings and clicking the circle if it’s unselected.
