There are all kinds of weird items and trinkets for players to find and pick up in Resident Evil 7. One of these items, a Toy Axe, can be found inside of the Kid’s Room on the second floor of the Main House. While the Toy Axe might seem useless at first, it can actually be used to solve a secret puzzle that has been hidden in the Baker estate. In this article we’ll show you how to get the Toy Axe in Resident Evil 7, in case you don’t have it yet, as well as how to use it to solve the hidden puzzle and claim a Stabilizer item.
How to Get the Toy Axe
To get the Toy Axe, you must first find the Snake Key, which can only be obtained after dealing with Marguerite Baker in the Greenhouse. Once you’ve finished that boss fight, obtain the D-Series Arm, and then head back to Zoe’s Camper after she calls you. There you’ll learn that Lucas has taken both Mia and Zoe hostage, and that he wants you to play a little game. To do this, you’ll have to head down to the Dissection Room, and fish the Snake Key out of the dead cop’s throat.
Once you have the Snake Key, make your way back up to the second floor of the Main House and locate the Kid’s Room. You’ll need to gain access to the attic in this room, which can only be done by inspecting a nearby lamp, which has a switch hidden inside it.
Climb into the attic and grab the Toy Axe from a shelf behind a wardrobe close to the ladder.
Where to Use the Toy Axe
Now that you have the Toy Axe, it’s time to put this little trinket to work. Head back downstairs and out into the Yard, near Zoe’s Camper. Make your way over towards the door that leads to Lucas’ testing area. To the left of this door you’ll find a small thicket that you can walk through. Continue through it to discover a small area with a pedestal and a projector, similar to the ones used in light puzzles throughout the game.
Use the Toy Axe on the pedestal and line up the item with the white outline on the board with numbers. Your goal here is to make it look like a 7. Once you solve the puzzle, the chest to the left of the number board will open, revealing the Stabilizer, which can be taken to help Ethan become better at reloading and working with guns.
Now that you’ve made use of the Toy Axe, you don’t need to worry about it anymore. You can return to our Resident Evil 7 guide for more walkthroughs like this, or check out our guides on how to find all the Antique Coin locations, as well as our guides on how to get the shotgun out of the Main Hall.
