How to Win in Fortnite Battle Royale

Winning in Fortnite Battle Royale is a combination of luck, skill, and patience. No matter how good of a player you are, sometimes the game just isn’t going to go your way. That’s just how battle royale games work. That’s why you need to be patient, keep your cool, and hop into the next game with a clear mind.

We’ve already covered how to stay alive, which will give you pointers on how to skirt the game’s hotspots and stay alive to make it to the end of the match. But, if you want to know the true tricks to winning, this guide is going to help you get started on your way.

Stay Aware

One of the most important parts of surviving and winning in a battle royale game is to always be aware of your surroundings. You should keep your head on a swivel, constantly checking around, behind, and even in front of you. This will make it harder for enemies to sneak up on you, and give you a much better fighting chance, should you happen upon anyone trying to take you out. We could argue that this is definitely one of the most important things to do, and if you can train yourself to constantly check your surroundings, then you’ll be well on your way to mastering the game.

Don’t Hoard Guns

We get it, it can be really tempting to pick up every version of every gun you see. Don’t do this, though. Not only does it take up very important inventory space, but it makes it much more difficult to change out to good weapons down the line. Plus, there’s no real reason for carrying around multiple rarities of the same weapon, so try to stick to only carrying around one of each weapon type. This will keep your inventory clear, and allow you to easily swap between items.

We’d also suggest only carrying around two or three weapons max. That way you have plenty of inventory room for the other items that you need, like Bandages, Shield Potions, and Slurpees.

Be Patient

Patience is a large part of winning in Fortnite, so make sure you’re always taking a second before responding to enemies you see in the distance. Think about how far away you are, how likely you are to kill those people, and if playing in Duos or Squads, keep an eye out for any enemy teammates around. A lot of people don’t take these precautions, and instead shoot at every person that they see, leading to their early demise.

Patience, staying aware of your surroundings, and properly managing your inventory are just the start when it comes to mastering Fortnite Battle Royale. But, if you can grasp these three skills, then you’ll find yourself slowly climbing that leaderboard, growing closer and closer to that victory lap.
