The time has come to get my hands dirty with Immortals: Fenyx Rising. I had fun with the review and the more subjective beginner’s tips guide, but now it’s time for the work. The brunt of the focus in Immortals, I think, will be on the game’s Vaults of Tartaros. These are basically parallels to the Shrines in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and contain similar conceits. We’re going to cover these bad boys one by one, and that starts with the Passage in the Abyss.
Passage of the Abyss is literally the first Vault, which means it’s basically a tutorial. This is the least challenging vault you’ll run into, since it’s a matter of cause and effect with some levers. You don’t have enough abilities for anything complicated yet.
Either way, you’ll run up to a set of platforms housing a triangle of levers right in front of the end goal. You can only access one lever at first, so you know what to do! The first lever raises a series of platforms to the right, giving you stepping stones to the next lever.
The right lever doesn’t make new platforms appear, but it does make the left platform move back and forth. All you need to do is ride it over to the left side. And as you’d expect at this point probably, the left lever raises some steps that take you back to the middle. Pulling that first level a second time will make the original platforms come back up, this time with the moving platform covering the gap between them.
Hop across the steps here. The moving platform gives you plenty of time to get across, and on the other side you’ll find the first upgrade: Broken Wings. You can’t fly or glide with ‘em, but you do get a handy double-jump. Keep in mind that eats a full bar of stamina, so don’t goof around too much at these early stages.
After the wings there’s one more pull lever. There’s a panel to the left as well with a helmet on it, meaning it’s for a person. Stand on it and a platform will start moving your way. Stepping off will send it back, so hustle over and ride the platform to the end. All done! You’ll get some of Zeus’ Lightning here, which contributes to stamina upgrades.
Sure, that was an easy one, but we’re trying to be comprehensive here at Prima when the opportunity is there. We’ll have a hub linked here later on with all the Vault links, so if you’re looking for help on a specific one, keep your eyes peeled for that when it comes! In the meantime, hit us up on the Prima Games Facebook or Twitter channels if you wanna talk shop with us.
