No, ARK: Survival Ascended is not a direct sequel to Survival Evolved. Instead, it is a remaster and reimagination of the first game in Unreal Engine 5 and will feature everything from Survival Evolved. The actual sequel is ARK 2, which has yet to be released.
ARK: Survival Ascended is a modernized version of Survival Evolved with improved graphics, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions, and cross-platform modding. ARK 2, on the other hand, is designed to be Survival Evolved’s true sequel with a developed storyline, character progression, and UE5 tech.
ARK: Survival Ascended, released in early access on PC on October 25, 2023, follows the same direction as Survival Evolved, with the latter’s DLCs and maps being remade for Ascended.
