With the newest entry making a shift to a multiplayer format, you’ll need more than just yourself to survive the haunting labyrinths and creepy monsters that chase you around in The Outlast Trials. Is crossplay included in the game to make this task a bit less daunting?
Is There Crossplay in The Outlast Trials?
Yes, The Outlast Trials features crossplay elements. During its Early Access period, players from Steam could already team up with Epic Games Store owners to engage in a Trial, and the same continues to be true now with the game officially out. Whether you’re playing on PlayStation, Xbox, or PC, everyone can gather for some good group scares.
But be aware that while crossplay is present, cross-progression isn’t. This means that you’ll have to start over from scratch whenever you get the game on a new platform. The only exception is, of course, the Xbox versions since they share the same Cloud save. But you’re out of luck if you’re migrating from Steam to PlayStation, for example.
Differing from the previous entries in the series, The Outlast Trials is now a multiplayer survival horror game instead of the traditional single-player experience. While you can still experience and clear a Trial completely alone, multiplayer is the recommended method to do so, and the game could get tedious really fast when playing solo, so make use of the player-connecting features to fill a lobby as quickly as possible and start uncovering the mysteries behind all of the human experimentations.
The Outlast Trials has been available on PC through Steam and Epic Games Store in Early Access since May 18, and it’s now officially out for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Series X|S. Gather as many friends as you can and head straight into this new “therapy” session.
