Ginger in a Pickle is a main story quest that unlocks after completing The Hunt Begins in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. After a violent incident at a horse farm, Henry must investigate who was responsible for the crime. You’re sent to find a man named Ginger, who may have witnessed the events. Follow the steps in this guide to track down Ginger and complete the Ginger in a Pickle quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
Start the Ginger in a Pickle Quest
Just after you’ve completed the story quest The Hunt Begins, Captain Bernard will ask you to investigate a crime and find Ginger, who may lead you to the culprits. First, stop and talk to the farm master’s wife, Zora. She’ll send you to speak with Jakub, who should be standing in the courtyard near the barn.
Press Jakub for details on Ginger by selecting persuasive dialogue options. After some persuasion, he eventually reveals that Ginger was involved with a few groups of Charcoal Burners, who are basically charcoal salesmen in Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
Find the Charcoal Burner Camps
Next, you’ll need to track down several groups of Charcoal Burners to see if they can help you find Ginger. Initially, there are two groups of Charcoal Burners that you can pursue, one to the north toward Uzhitz and another south of the farm. Following the quest marker will lead you to the first group of Charcoal Burners along a hill south of Neuhof.
Speak to the Charcoal Burner Spokesman. He will send you to find the second group of Charcoal Burners in the woods to the north. Alternatively, you can just head straight to the second group by travelling north along the road until you reach their camp at the end of the path.
Again, look for the Charcoal Burner Spokesman, this time for the second group. Speak to him and he’ll send you to find a third group of Charcoal Burners. To locate this last group, head west down the road that runs along the river in Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
Find the third group of Charcoal Burners and speak to their Spokesman. He won’t give up details on Ginger’s whereabout that easily. First, you must help resolve his bandit problem.
Speaking of bandits, if you happen to encounter some suspicious men asking about Ginger, don’t give out any information. These guys are bandits who are trying to track down Ginger as well. You can dispense of them now while their guard is down. At the very least, you can nab their armor and sell it later.
Kill the Bandits (Optional)
Back to the original bandit problem. The Charcoal Burner Spokesman asks you to eliminate a pair of bandits southeast of the Charcoal Burner camp. You can either agree to help, or lie to the Spokesman by saying the bandits are already dead. If you have a high enough persuasion stat to succeed in the lie, you won’t have to fight the bandits at all. This also helps if you’re working to achieve the Merciful trophy in Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
If you agreed to help or your lie was unsuccessful, you’ll have to deal with the bandits yourself. Head to the bandit camp and try to stay hidden to maintain the element of surprise. When you’re ready to attack the bandits, it’s best to try to lure one of the bandits away to avoid fighting both bandits at once. If you can, try to get rid of the heavily-armored bandit first to make the fight easier.
Once you have eliminated the bandit camp, return to the Spokesman for the Charcoal Burners. As a reward for dealing with the bandits, he’ll reveal where to find Ginger.
Find Ginger
Ginger is located in a small grass hut uphill, northeast of the last Charcoal Burner camp. To find Ginger’s hideout, follow the quest marker on your map.
Calm Ginger down by informing him that the bandits have been taken care of, then speak with Ginger about his take on what happened back at the farm. At the end of the dialogue, you can choose to either help Ginger by agreeing to speak with Zora and the villagers back at the farm, or have Ginger return to Neuhof and retell the events himself.
Afterward, report back to Captain Bernard in Neuhof, then speak with Sir Radzig. Radzig will reward you with 75 Groschen for a job well done, and the Mysterious Ways main story quest will begin.
