Although LEGO Fortnite may sound like a walk in the park, there are plenty of enemies lurking around the open world, and you need a sword if you want to survive out there. The good news is I can help you craft one of your own or find one in this guide.
How to Get a Sword in LEGO Fortnite
You need five Wooden Rods from a Lumber Mill to craft a sword in LEGO Fortnite. The shortsword is one of the first true weapons you can craft as you explore your world and you won’t find the option to make one right away. For it to appear, you need to create a Lumber Mill with your build editor. This first part will cost you 8 wood and 15 granite.
Once you have the Lumber Mill ready to go, you can deposit as much wood into the machine as you want. Two recipes will be available in the first iteration of the mill. Either you can create planks or Wooden Rods. You need the rods to create the sword regardless, so I suggest starting with those. You get the recipe for a sword as soon as you pick up the rods from the machine.
How to Craft a Sword in LEGO Fortnite:
- Craft a Lumber Mill with 8 wood and 15 granite.
- Deposit 5 wood to make 5 wooden rods.
- Craft a shortsword at any Crafting Bench with 5 wooden rods.
Now that you have some wooden rods, you can head to a Crafting Bench. The recipe for the standard shortsword is five Wooden Rods. All you need is five pieces of wood as long as you have the Lumber Mills, so don’t sweat the ingredients. And keep in mind that crafting tools can only be done at a bench.
If you get lucky enough, you can also find swords around the open world in LEGO Fortnite. Chests around the map have a small chance to spawn one and so do the llama pinatas. Any time you see a rainbow butterfly, make sure to follow it to a pinata for a chance at free loot. It’s exactly how I got my first sword.
In between crafting, make sure to keep churning planks out for more materials later on.
