How to Invite Friends in Minecraft Dungeons
Whether you’re playing online co-op with a group of friends or split-screen at home with your siblings, Minecraft Dungeons was meant to be played with others. Of course you can play it alone if you’d like, but if you want to play with others, you’ll need to know how to invite friends to your game.
To invite friends in Minecraft Dungeons, you’ll need to follow a few simple steps:
- Complete the tutorial
- Open up the main menu
- Select Online Game
- To invite a friend, select Start Online Game
- To join a friend’s game, select Game Sessions
If you’re having trouble with inviting friends or joining game sessions in Minecraft Dungeons, make sure everyone in your party has completed the “A Cry for Heroes on Squid Coast” tutorial mission. In theory, only the host player needs to have completed the tutorial to invite their friends, but that doesn’t always seem to be the case.

If everyone in your party has completed the tutorial and you still can’t invite a friend or join a game session, then it’s likely an issue with the servers being overloaded or some kind of bug that will need to be fixed by the developers. So if you can’t invite a friend after a few tries, wait 30-60 minutes and try again. If it’s still not working, you’ll likely have to wait for a patch or try joining a game session.
Minecraft Dungeons can be played via local or online split-screen with a total of four party members. The main story will take players through a total of ten main levels and will provide multiple hours of entertainment. Further, there are also a handful of secret levels that players can discover along the way.
It’s also worth noting here that at the time of writing crossplay is not available for Minecraft Dungeons.
While the game is available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Windows, and Nintendo Switch, you’ll only be able to invite friends to your game session if you’re on the same platform. However, Game Pass subscribers can download Minecraft Dungeons for free on Xbox One and Windows, so you might be able to use this to figure out how to play with your friends.
