The Outer Worlds Geothermal Plant Choice: Who to Help?

You’ll be asked to make a decision in connection with two particular story quests – Stranger in a Strange Land and Comes Now the Power. We’ve previously put out a guide on what we reckon is the best option, but hey, we don’t wanna dictate what you decide to do so we thought it’d be good to give you all of the info.

So, you can ultimately either give the power to Edgewater or the Botanical Lab. Talking to Reed Tobson when this all kicks off is probably going to make you want to automatically give it to the Lab of deserters, just because Reed’s a bit of a knob, but just hear us out. You’ll be able to give the power to either Edgewater or the Lab, and here’s what happens depending on either of those choices.

Should you choose to give the power to the Botanical Lab, you’ll be affecting depriving the whole town of Edgewater and Reed will eventually force you to merc some people to get a replacement. Not ideal,

If you choose to give the water to Edgewater and not the Lab, then Reed’s prophecy will essentially come true. People will start defecting back to the town, but it doesn’t mean that everything’s all going to be hunky-dory. Adelaide and her cure won’t actually return unless you can get Reed to leave the town. Now, this is the decision that has an additional moral component: get Reed to leave, and basically he’s going to be the only person who ends up with a sour end of the deal.

In our experience, picking to divert the power from the town has far more widespread disastrous consequences in terms of the number of people affected, so choose wisely from the options available to you above. Now that you’ve got some help in terms of making the Outer Worlds Geothermal Plant choice, cracking through the rest of the story should progress fairly smoothly once you’re used to making sweeping decisions like that.
