Resident Evil 7 – All Special Unlocks, X-Ray Glasses, Circular Saw, Infinite Ammo
Resident Evil 7 is a game that rewards players for completing it and then diving back in. Depending on how you play the game, and how many of the different collectibles you find, you’ll unlock different items that can help you along your journey. In this article we’ll go over all the unlockable items that you can get by beating the game and we’ll even tell you how to get them.
Madhouse Mode
This supreme difficulty mode isn’t for the faint of heart, as it makes Resident Evil 7’s story much more challenging to complete. Item spawns changes, ammo becomes more scarce, and enemies become tougher. While players who preordered the game will have this difficulty mode unlocked right from the start, those who picked up the game after its launch will need to complete the game on Easy or Normal difficulty to unlock Madhouse Mode.
Albert 01-R
Being one of the strongest handguns in the game, it only makes sense that players would have to complete the game to get it. That’s the only requirement to unlock this special weapon, which is rewarded to players at the end of the game, during the final boss fight. It’s a tough weapon to use, and it dispatches enemies very quickly, which can be handy when you’re trying to playthrough the game on higher difficulties.
X-Ray Glasses
This special item is one of the most useful that you can unlock, especially for those struggling to find all the Antique Coins or Mr. Everywheres in the game. You’ll unlock this item for beating the game in under four hours, which is the easiest to achieve on the game’s lowest difficulty level.
Circular Saw
One of the most efficient weapons you can get in the game, this special melee weapon can only be unlocked by completing the game in under 4 hours. Many players have reported that this is easiest to achieve on the game’s Easy Mode, which features far less of a challenge than the harder difficulties.
The Secrets of Defense
Awarded for completing the game on Normal, this item allows Ethan to block more of the incoming damage that he received from enemies when blocking. It’s a very useful item to carry around, and it’s something that will be absolutely necessary to complete the game on Madhouse Difficulty.
The Essence of Defense
This scroll works very similarly to The Secrets of Defense, however, you’re going to need to do a lot more to unlock it. To unlock this item you must locate all of the Mr. Everywhere statues hidden around the Baker residence. Works very well when paired with The Secrets of Defense.
Infinite Ammo
This upgrade only works on the Albert 01-R, and can also only be obtained by completing the game on Madhouse difficulty. We’d suggest trying to unlock most of the other items before trying Madhouse Mode, since it is far more challenging than anything else the game has to offer.
Walking Shoes
Unlocking this item will allow Ethan to walk much faster, making it easier to outrun enemies that are chasing you in Madhouse Mode. You’ll have to beat the game in under 4 hours, though, if you want to unlock them.
Those are all of the items that you can unlock by completing Resident Evil 7. If you find yourself having trouble with the game, be sure to return to our Resident Evil 7 guide for more tips, tricks, and guides to help you survive the Baker’s nightmare.
