Fans of the Harry Potter series finally have a great game set in their beloved fantasy world. Hogwarts Legacy has arrived on many systems old and new, but if you are a next-gen console gamer and are currently struggling with the dilemma of whether to start the game on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, you are at the right place – we’ll look at the all pros and cons of playing Hogwarts Legacy on both systems!

Should You Play Hogwarts Legacy on PS5 or Xbox Series X?
To begin with, it should be noted that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X have the same five graphics modes, and that the basic game is almost identical, although PlayStation also has some Exclusive Content such as:
- “Haunted Hogsmeade Shop” quest
- Additional Dungeon
- Shopkeepers Cosmetic Set
- Hogsmeade Shop is available in-game
- Felix Felicis Potion Recipe (Pre-order exclusive for PlayStation)
Aside from that, this PlayStation-exclusive content will remain only on Sony’s system for a full year, after which it will likely be released on Xbox and other systems. So that is 10 POINTS FOR PLAYSTATION!
Ok, but let’s see what Xbox Series X brings to this magic wand measuring contest? In 4 out of 5 graphic modes, Series X manages to outperform the PlayStation 5 in the fps department. So Fidelity, Performance, Balanced and High Frame Rate Performance modes all run slightly better on Xbox Series X – only the Fidelity with Raytracing mode seems to be working better on PlayStation 5. That is an easy 10 POINTS FOR SERIES X!
But wait, PlayStation 5 is coming back with quicker load times and amazing DualSense haptics support, and as I mentioned above, the better performance in the Fidelity with RayTracing mode. ANOTHER 10 POINTS FOR PLAYSTATION!
What can Series X do to counter this better controller and faster SSD magic? Have Hogwarts Legacy as a day one addition to the Game Pass? Present a better value for money? Sadly, no – Hogwarts Legacy is not a part of Game Pass; at least for now, you gotta buy it for $69.99 for either console. With that possible Game Pass card out of the window, PlayStation 5… kinda wins?
All in all, you won’t do too badly with the Xbox Series X version, either, but the PlayStation 5 definitely has the most advantages and takes the W in this battle. So there you have it, happy wizarding!
