Should You Save the Hanged Man in the Butcher’s Quarters in Remnant 2? – Answered
As you traverse the Butcher’s Quarters, you’re bound to stumble across the hanging man event. This event takes place behind a fog wall, and it involves some truly unhinged townsfolk trying to burn a man alive as he hangs from a pole. The man will beg for you to save him… but should you?
Morally, yes. But if you’re trying to get the best loot possible, it depends. By saving the man, you’ll get the Shadeskin Trait and the Dran Memento Ring. But if you allow him to be burned, you’ll get the Shadeskin Trait and the Singed Ring.
- Shadeskin Trait – Increases Resistance to Elemental Status Effect Damage. At max level, Shadeskin Increases Resistance to Elemental Status Effect Damage by 20%.
- Dran Memento Ring – A ring that imbues the wearer with a sense of strength and lightness. It increases max stamina by 20 and reduces encumbrance by 5.
- Singed Ring – Increases all damage dealt to Burning enemies by 10%.
The Singed Ring is far more niche than the Dran Memento Ring, and it’s also the easiest outcome to achieve. But to prevent the man from burning to death, you’ll need to carefully manage the fight.

The best way to do this is to stay on the platform near the pile of kindling and the pleading man. From there, monitor the various paths up to the platform. There are six total pathways that the men wielding torches can take, but only four will spawn. Prioritize them over all else. Once the villager with a makeshift chainsaw appears, the fight is almost over.
If you find you fail to keep the man alive, you can always stand in the fire and burn with the hanged man. Doing so will allow you to start over at the checkpoint.
Once the fight is done, the hanged man will free himself and hand over your reward.
