While the Sims 4 offers a wealth of items that players can mix and match to build their dream venues, even more items can be accessed. These items are usually the things players can see in the game but are unavailable in build/buy mode. Fortunately, utilizing the cheat code system in the Sims 4 will unlock the remaining items and give you a whole new toolset to play with.
Using the Debug Cheat For Hidden Items
Players must first enable cheats in their Sims 4 game and then input the correct commands for the debug cheat to access hidden items. The input commands are the same regardless of console, but accessing the cheat code menu differs slightly.
Debug Cheat for PC
To enable cheats on PC, players must first press CTRL + SHIFT + C on their keyboard. Then, in the textbox that appears, type ‘testingcheats true’ and press enter. Players should then get a confirmation that cheats are now enabled.
Now that cheats are enabled, type in the same textbox, ‘bb.showhiddenobjects’ and press enter. Follow that with a second command, ‘bb.showliveeditobjects’, and press enter again. After this, you can exit the cheat menu and go into build/buy mode.

In build/buy mode, go to the search bar and type ‘debug’
The debug items will appear in the items menu with a **Debug** tag.
Debug Cheat for Consoles
Players must press all the trigger buttons on their controller to enable cheats on consoles. For Playstation players, this is L1 + L2 + R1 + R2. For Xbox players, this is LB + LT + RB + RT. An important note to remember for console players is that they cannot earn trophies on a Sims 4 save that has cheats enabled.
In the textbox, type ”testingcheats true’ and press X on Playstation or A on Xbox. Similar to PC, you should see a message confirming cheats are enabled. Then, type in the same textbox ‘bb.showhiddenobjects’ and press the respective enter button. Follow that with a second command, ‘bb.showliveeditobjects’, and press the respective enter button again. After this, you can exit the cheat menu by pressing O on PlayStation or B on Xbox.
To see the debug items, go to the ‘Objects by function’ menu and hit R2 on PlayStation or RT on Xbox into an empty search bar. Lastly, filter the content by ‘Unknown’ by going to Filters, then Content, and choose Unknown. You finally have access to your new items.
