Seven of Super Mario Bros. Wonder’s stages have secret exits. Below are all the secret exits and how to get to them.
How to Tell if a Stage Has a Secret Exit
When you’re in the overworld, press L to open up the list of the game’s levels. Here you can see the stage name, difficulty, and your completion status. This includes:
- Reaching the top of the Goal Pole,
- Collecting all Wonder Seeds,
- And collecting all 10-Flower Coins.
Normally a stage has two Wonder Seeds: one for completing the Wonder Flower segment, and one for reaching the Goal Pole. If you have all of the above collected, you’ll see an encircled green checkmark behind all the icons. If there is no green checkmark, that means there’s a third Wonder Seed to collect in the stage, and you collect it by finding the stage’s secret exit.
W1 Pipe-Rock Plateau Secret Exits
Piranha Plants on Parade Secret Exit
After watching the Piranha Plants perform, you’ll be near a floating island with three downward-facing pipes, including two jutting out at diagonal angles. You’ll want to use the note blocks to propel you upward and land on the rightmost pipe. From there, keep going left and into the red pipe. You’ll emerge in the level foreground.
If you find the jump tricky to make, use the “Add ! Blocks” badge. ! Blocks will be placed near the pipes, so you can jump to the platform from the right.
Run to the right as the flowers in the background call out to you, enter the green pipe, and run right to the secret exit’s Goal Pole.
Finding this secret exit unlocks a pipe that leads to Captain Toad in the Petal Isles. Talk to Captain Toad to receive 50 Flower Coins.
Bulrush Coming Through! Secret Exit
After collecting the Wonder Flower, ride the Bulrush stampede all the way up into the clouds, where you’ll find a Wonder Seed. After picking up the Wonder Seed, run to the right on the clouds to find the secret exit Goal Pole.
Bulrush Express Secret Exit
Like the Bulrush Coming Through! stage, Bulrush Express requires you ride a stampede of Bulrush. After picking up the Wonder Seed, you’ll see some blocks to your right. You need to use the Elephant Power-Up’s trunk attack to smash through these blocks to make it to the stage’s secret exit.
Using the “Add ! Blocks” badge will place many ! Blocks on the first screen of this stage. If you start the stage in Super Form, one of the topmost ! Blocks will have an Elephant Fruit you can use.
Finding this secret exit is a necessary part of unlocking the W1 Pipe-Rock Plateau Special World entrance.
W2 Fluff-Puff Peaks Secret Exits
Outmaway Valley Secret Exit
After completing the Outmaway Valley Wonder Flower rolling snowman segment and collecting the Wonder Seed, simply continue to the right where you’ll find the secret exit Goal Pole. The standard exit Goal Pole is the one you find when you don’t touch the stage’s Wonder Flower.
Finding this secret exit unlocks the Break Time! Kick It, Outmaway stage.
W3 Shining Falls Secret Exits
There are no stages in W3 Shining Falls with secret exits.
W4 Sunbaked Desert Secret Exits
Secrets of Shova Mansion Secret Exit
Near the end of the Secrets of Shova Mansion stage, you’ll find a section with colorful, pushable blocks. Near a green block will be two rows of brick blocks that you can ground pound to destroy. Destroy them and push the green block into the glowing space to reveal a golden Warp Pipe. Enter the Warp Pipe and make your way right to another Warp Pipe, which will lead to the secret exit’s Goal Pole.
Finding this secret exit is a necessary part of unlocking the W4 Sunbaked Desert Special World entrance.
W5 Fungi Mines Secret Exits
There are no stages in W5 Fungi Mines with secret exits.
W6 Deep Magma Bog Secret Exits
Where the Rrrumbas Rule
As you progress through the stage, be sure to collect at least one Drill power-up from one of the ? blocks or from one of the glowing Rrrumbas. Not long after starting the course, you’ll find a large pushable yellow wall. You’ll know it’s the one because the nearby Talking Flower will comment that it looks unstable, and asks if you want to push it. Push the yellow wall and run quickly up it as it falls. Jump up and burrow into the ceiling, then follow the hole in the wall to a small cavern with more pushable walls and a pipe. It will lead to another area with the secret exit Goal Pole.
If you’re finding it tough to jump into the ceiling before the yellow wall falls, try using the Floating High Jump badge to give your character extra jumping height.
Finding this secret exit unlocks the passage to the Badge Challenge: Boosting Spin Jump II stage.
Hot-Hot Hot!
To reach this secret exit, it’s recommended to use either the Boosting Spin Jump badge or the Add ! Blocks badge. After reaching the checkpoint, either:
- Return to the left if you’re using the Boosting Spin Jump badge, and use the Hot-Hots to jump up and follow the line of coins onto a platform of clouds,
- Or, move to the platform on the right if you’re using the Add ! Blocks badge. Jump up onto the ? blocks and ! blocks to reach the platform of clouds.
Touch the flower on the cloud platform to spawn a second flower. You’ll need to drop down to touch this second flower. The second flower will lead you a long way back, and turn an earlier Hot-Hot into a door.
Enter the door to find a darkened area. Maneuver around the Hot-Hots, and on the right, you’ll find the secret exit Goal Pole.
Finding this secret exit unlocks a path to the stage Break Time! Hot-Hot Rocks, which has one obtainable Wonder Seed.
