Super Mario Bros. Wonder’s Special World is full of challenging stages, but it’s also a challenge to get to at all. Here are all the different entrances to Special World and how to unlock them.
Petal Isles Special World Entrance
Once you get to move to W4, W5, and W6 in any order you choose, you can freely roam the Petal Isles. Make your way to the entrance to W6 by completing:
- Petal Isles: Flying Battleship
- Maw-Maw Mouthful
- and Muncher Fields.
Once you’re at the island that connects to W6 Deep Magma Bog, complete the Wiggler Race: Spelunking! stage to form a complete loop around the Petal Isles. Doing so will unlock a Special World entrance leading to the stage Petal Isles Special: Way of the Goomba.
W1 Pipe-Rock Plateau Special World Entrance
Getting to the W1 Pipe-Rock Plateau Special World entrance takes a few steps. The first is to reach the Bulrush Express stage secret exit. To reach it, you need to use the Elephant Power-Up’s trunk attack to break the blocks after collecting the Wonder Seed.
An easy way to get an Elephant Power-Up in Bulrush Express is to use the “Add ! Blocks” badge. The topmost ! Block on the screen when you first enter the stage will have an Elephant Fruit if you’re already in your character’s Super form.
After finding the Bulrush Express secret exit, you’ll unlock a path with three more stages:
- Sproings in the Twilight Forest
- Cosmic Hoppos
- Expert Badge Challenge: Jet Run I
Complete each stage to make your way to the Pipe-Rock Plateau Special World entrance and the Bounce, Bounce, Bounce stage.
W2 Fluff-Puff Peaks Special World Entrance
In W2 Fluff-Puff Peaks, find the path north of the stage Pole Block Passage and take it to the stage Jump! Jump! Jump! Complete the stage without falling to unlock a path to the stage Expert Badge Challenge: Spring Feet I. Once you clear this stage, the W2 Fluff-Puff Peaks Special World entrance will appear to the right.
W3 Shining Falls Special World Entrance
After earning the Royal Seed from W3 Shining Falls, return to the Royal Seed Mansion. Master Poplin will reveal the W3 Shining Falls Special World entrance just to the right of the Royal Seed Mansion, leading to the stage Shining Falls Special: Triple Threat Deluge.
W4 Sunbaked Desert Special World Entrance
In W4 Sunbaked Desert, speak to the Poplin to the right of the Sunbaked Desert Palace. Give him 50 Flower Coins to rebuild the bridge and unlock the Secrets of Shova Mansion Stage.
After repairing the bridge, explore the area to the left to find a hidden Warp Pipe. It will lead to Captain Toad, who will gift you with 50 Flower Coins for finding him. Now the bridge pays itself!
Find the Secrets of Shova Mansion secret exit at the end of the stage by ground pounding the blocks to reveal a glowing pit and pushing the green block into it. This unlocks a path north and west with the stages:
- Flight of the Bloomps
- Expert Badge Challenge: Invisibility I
Complete both stages to unlock the W4 Sunbaked Desert Special World entrance.
W5 Fungi Mines Special World Entrance
After earning the W5 Fungi Mines Royal Seed, return to the Operation Poplin Rescue stage. Complete the stage a second time to unlock the W5 Special World entrance and the Fungi Mines Special: Dangerous Donut Ride stage.
W6 Deep Magma Bog Special World Entrance
After clearing the Dragon Boneyard stage, you can access a locked stage that requires 25 Wonder Seeds to unlock. Once you have the 25 necessary Wonder Seeds, you’ll gain access to the following stages:
- Expert Badge Challenge: Jet Run II
- Expert Badge Challenge: Invisibility II
- Expert Badge Challenge: Spring Feet II
Clearing each of these stages will lead the way to the W6 Deep Magma Bog Special World Entrance.
How to Unlock The Final-Final Test: Badge Marathon
Beyond the Special World entrances, there’s one final(-final) stage to unlock in Super Mario Bros. Wonder: The Final-Final Test: Badge Marathon. To unlock this intense final challenge, you essentially need to 100% the game. More specifically, you need:
- Every Wonder Seed,
- All 10-Flower Coins,
- And to land on the very top of every Goal Pole
from each and every stage—including the Special World stages.
As the name suggests, The Final-Final Test: Badge Marathon involves going through a highly challenging stage using each of the game’s different badges. If you’re curious in learning more about all of Super Mario Bros. Wonder’s different badges, check out our guide.
