Super Mario RPG is full of interesting things for players to discover. One such area is Grate Guy’s Casino. Making your way here will allow you to participate in several mini-games. It’s worth the trip, and here is exactly how to locate Grate Guy’s Casino in Super Mario RPG.
Where to Find Grate Guy’s Casino in Super Mario RPG
To locate Grate Guy’s Casino, you will first need to win the Bright Card from Knife Guy in Booster Tower, enter the topmost Pirahna Plant Pipe in Bean Valley, and then take on the yellow Chomp Chomp’s. It can be a little tricky, but here is exactly how to make your way into the elusive gambling venue.
How to Obtain the Bright Card
You will have to travel to Booster Tower and find Knife Guy waiting inside for you. He will apologize for his previous unruly behavior and offer to play a game of Ball Games Ahead with you. Accept this offer as you will need to win twelve times for him to give you the Bright Card.
The Bright Card can sell for 777 coins, which seems like a lot, but if you sell it, you will be unable to access Grate Guy’s Casino ever again. Make sure that you hold onto the Bright Card!
Knife Guy will be juggling multiple balls, and you will have to figure out which hand the yellow ball is in. It’s pretty fast, but I found it easy to get right by simply focusing on his left hand. Watch for when the ball hits the hand, and then passes. If it stops very close to his left hand, it’s in there. If the ball has gone past that hand when it stops, it’s in the right. I had a 100% success rate following this method. It seemed easier than trying to track the ball the whole time.
You will get one point for getting it right, and you will lose one point for getting it wrong. Once you hit twelve points, Knife Guy will give you the Bright Card.
How to Access Grate Guy’s Casino
Take Mario and friends to Bean Valley and make your way to the area with five pipes with Piranha Plants emerging out of them. Enter the topmost pipe after defeating said Pirahna Plant, and you will find yourself underground. Attack the suspiciously golden Chomp Chomp, and upon its defeat, jump three times to its left. You will hear a chime if you are in the correct spot. When done successfully, a new platform will appear. Jump on it and continue on the path to make your way to Grate Guy’s Casino.
Once inside, you will have access to three additional minigames which you can participate in for no cost. That’s really all there is to the casino, but getting there is a nice break from Mario’s venture and a worthwhile experience. Super Mario RPG is full of similarly hidden aspects of the game, such as Mario’s best weapon, the Lazy Shell.
