Warhammer 40K: Darktide offers a wide array of weapons available for each and every class, being one part of creating a build that complements their playstyle. Through an array of class-specific and generalized weapons, you’ll be looking to dish out the most damage across various targets to prevent being overwhelmed. We’re here to help make that choice a little easier though. Here are all the best weapons for each class in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.
Which Weapons Should You Choose for Each Class
Before we begin, we want to make it abundantly clear that your “best” weapons for each class in Darktide may differ from ours, and that’s completely okay. If there’s a weapon we didn’t list that you think is better, then feel free to use it! These are simply the best weapons from our experience. Without further ado, here they are.
Best Ogryn Weapons
- Primary Weapon: Orok Mk II Battle Maul and Slab Shield
- Secondary Weapon: Foe-Rend Mk II Ripper Gun
Barring some other options in the secondary weapon category being nice alternatives, the Battle Maul and Slab Shield is without a doubt the Ogryn’s best melee weapon. What it lacks in damage, it benefits you with tankiness and massive stagger potential. The reason for our secondary weapon choice is the damage output the Mk II Ripper Gun excels in. You could go with any Ripper Gun though and likely find success.
Best Zealot Weapons
- Primary Weapon: Crucis Mk II Thunder Hammer/Tigrus Mk II Heavy Eviscerator
- Secondary Weapon: Artemia Mk III Purgation Flamer/Locke Mk IIb Spearhead Boltgun
A little more flexibility is given to the Zealot in terms of their best weapons, however, there’s a major catch. We suggest either running Thunder Hammer/Flamer or Eviscerator/Boltgun, without any interchangeability between the two dual-weapon setups. This is because switching them up will likely result in two weapons serving a similar purpose, though the Thunder Hammer and Boltgun could still work somewhat.
Best Psyker Weapons
- Primary Weapon: Maccabian Mk IV Dueling Sword
- Secondary Weapon: Equinox MK IV Voidstrike Force Staff
The Mk IV Dueling Sword takes a bit of getting used to, though once learned this weapon can be great in any situation. Running the Force Sword isn’t a bad call either, though we feel it lacks something by comparison. The secondary weapon of the Voidstrike Force Staff is considered by many to be the best of the four staffs, and rightfully so. Its explosive properties and great burst damage make it an excellent, well-rounded staff. If you wanted to go with another staff though, chances are you won’t have a bad time.
Best Veteran Weapons
- Primary Weapon: Cadia Mk IV Assault Chainsword/Munitorium Mk III Power Sword
- Secondary Weapon: M35 Magnacore Mk II Plasma Gun
Our primary weapon choices mainly come down to what you want out of the build. The Chainsword is an incredible weapon as it is, though the Power Sword does bring some nice cleave damage into the mix. The secondary weapon is a little more controversial, as some feel it’s worse than the Boltgun. In our practice though, the high magazine, sniping potential, and damage make this weapon a monster.

Weapon choice is a big part of Darktide, though we hope with our list, it might make the daunting task of choosing weapons just a little easier.
