Twitch is one of the most popular live-streaming services available, and with a large influx of streamers and viewers, it’s bound to have some technical problems. Some are easier to solve than others. Here is how to fix the “could not access the specified channel or Stream Key” error.

If you’re having trouble getting Twitch to access your Stream key, here are the steps you’ll need to take in order to fix this problem from occurring again. You’ll need to reset your Stream Key.
First, you’ll want to go to Twitch.tv and go to your profile. From the dropdown menu, click on the “Creator Dashboard” option.
From there, click on the Settings option, then in the drop-down menu, click on Stream. This will take you to the stream settings for your own account.

At the top of the list, you will see the “Primary Stream Key” section, which has a very long list of letters and numbers. At the other end of the bar will be two selections: “Copy” and “Reset”. Click on Reset.
You will then need to copy the new Stream Key and paste it into OBS. This can be done by opening OBS, clicking File on the top bar, going to settings, and clicking on Stream.
Make sure the Service is Twitch, click the “Use Stream Key” option, and paste your new Stream Key into the field. Make sure you click on “Apply” at the bottom.
This should fix your “Could not access the specified channel or Stream Key Error” problems on Twitch. If you’re running into other issues, check whether Twitch is currently down and its server status before trying anything else.
