With every new game comes its own sense of jargon, which brings us to Honkai: Star Rail trying to learn what’s new from what we already know of Hoyoverse’s work in the past. The best way to answer what an Eidolon is is to look at what we already have. So, what are Eidolons in Honkai: Star Rail?
What are Eidolons in Honkai: Star Rail?
Simply put, if you’re familiar with Genshin Impact, these are your Constellations. Unlocking Eidolons for your character can grant them significant new talents and power boosts that will enhance their gameplay. For example, looking at the Trailblazer’s Eidolons, you will be unable to unlock two of them at the conclusion of Herta’s Space Station. Their first Eidolon helps the Trailblazer to regenerate 10 extra Energy upon the defeat of an Enemy due to their Ultimate. The second Eidolon will restore the Trailblazer’s HP equal to five percent of their Attack when attacking enemies with Physical Weakness.
Eidolons can unlock a variety of different skills, some that will help with Energy Restoration, Boosts that Buff that specific character, and even allocated Eidolons that will increase your Skill, Talent, Ultimate, and Basic attack by a select margin to give it some extra oomph. All in all, these are skills that you don’t want to overlook and unlock as soon as you are able.
How do you Unlock Eidolons in Honkai: Star Rail?
With the exception of the Trailblazer, all characters can have their Eidolons if you get multiples. Say you already have March 7th, pulling her in the banner will result in the production of an Eidolon, specifically a March 7th Eidolon. These materials will then be used to unlock the next Eidolon level within March 7th’s build. Your four-star characters are going to be a lot easier to unlock since you are guaranteed a four-star character or light cone of some type with each 10-pull you try on any given banner. Five-star Eidolons will be much rarer and yet unlock some pretty powerful skills that will only prove to strengthen them.
The only exception to this is the Trailblazer who can unlock their Eidolons by way of obtaining Shadows of Destructions. These items can be handed out by finishing the prologue and by buying them from Wen Shiqi, the Internal Purchase Officer aboard Herta’s Space Station. Although he asks a hefty sum of 500 Hertareum, you’ll gain both an Eidolon to unlock for your Trailblazer as well as the rewards for spending so much at the World Shop.

You can actually unlock two sets of the Trailblazer’s Eidolon Levels upon catching up with the story. Your Trailblazer will be your unique character that adapts to different Paths with each new world you venture to. Originally, you have them set up as a Physical build and thus must unlock their abilities through the Shadows of Destructions. Once you have unlocked the Trailblazer’s Fire build, however, you will then need to seek Shadows of Preservation to unlock yet another six of the Trailblazer’s Eidolons.
This can make for quite the complex, but unique Five-star you have for free, so be sure to invest in your builds wisely!
