Although the Sorting Hat is responsible for assigning you to a house in Hogwarts Legacy, the decision is ultimately up to the players. So, do you want to join one of the four houses: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff? What are the distinctions between them, and how much influence does this decision have on the gameplay and your character’s development in Hogwarts Legacy? Lets find out.

What House Should you Choose in Hogwarts Legacy?
Right at the beginning of the game, the Sorting Hat will ask you a couple of questions that depend on which house you will be assigned to, although you can immediately change this choice yourself, if you want to roleplay, here is the answer that leads to which house:
- Gryffindor: Bravery
- Ravenclaw: Curiosity
- Hufflepuff: Loyalty
- Slytherin: Ambition
And now for the big question – what house should you choose? Well, whatever you want – because the choice of house in Hogwarts Legacy does not affect the story and the complete experience you will have in the game.
No house provides any exclusive bonuses, additional companions, or mounts. There are no additional perks or anything. In fact, regardless of the house you start from, you will be able to complete all of the quests in the game. The only things that the choice of house actually affects are the following four:
- Some additional dialogue will refer to your house, although the general story will be the same for everyone.
- Access to your common room location, as well as a special fast travel point available only to your House.
- An opportunity to talk and get to know other 5th-year students who belong to your house.
- Some parts of your equipment will have colors from the House of your choosing, just a cosmetic thing, no additional perks.
So, as you can see, the choice of the house in Hogwarts Legacy is only important if you want to roleplay, because no matter which house you choose, your main experience will be more or less the same, and you will always be able to party with students from other houses. So, feel free to choose the house you like the most, and don’t worry much about missing anything out in the game. Have fun!
