ARK: Survival Evolved is known for having beefy storage space requirements, and Survival Ascended may follow the same trend after its launch, especially once DLCs are released. Let’s talk about how much storage space ARK: Survival Ascended takes up and its total download size.
ARK: Survival Ascended Storage Space Requirements
ARK: Survival Ascended at launch requires around 70 GB of storage space. However, as updates and DLCs release, this number will likely increase, potentially reaching several hundreds of GB like its predecessor.
More content will become available during its early access period as additional features are remade in Unreal Engine 5. Some examples from the Steam store page include the following:
- Survival of the Fittest (Battle Royale)
- Scorched Earth
- Aberration
- Extinction
- Genesis Part 1
- Genesis Part 2
Furthermore, previously released DLCs will also be available. If downloaded, these will significantly boost your required storage space. Since Studio Wildcard plans to add more content outside of these, we can anticipate its download size being even larger once everything is released.
In contrast, ARK: Survival Evolved’s base game currently requires 128 GB disk space, with DLCs, mods, and other optional content adding over 200 GB extra. If you wish to avoid filling up your storage, stick to the base game without using DLCs. Otherwise, you may have to clear out some space.
In short, while ARK: Survival Ascended’s download size is not at Evolved’s point yet, it will likely reach similar heights once its DLCs and various updates launch over time.
Ark: Survival Ascended is available on PC starting October 25, 2023 and will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in November 2023.
