When you’re exploring the initial Meadows region of Lightyear Frontier, you’ll come across a few resources you can’t use just yet. Here’s what Coal is used for in Lightyear Frontier.
Where Do You Use Coal in Lightyear Frontier?
If you’re just starting in Lightyear Frontier and are finding Coal for the first time, you’re safe to store it away and forget about it for a bit. There’s no use for it yet, and there won’t be until you’ve entered and restored the Edge Cliffs. However, once you’ve restored the Edge Cliffs, you open the possibility to use it.
In the Edge Cliffs, you’ll find Copper Ore which can be used at the Assembler to create Copper Wire. Once you do, you’ll unlock the recipe for the Grinder building which takes 12 Rocks, four Copper Wire, and four Aluminum Rods. Build that, then use more Rocks to create Stone Dust. With the Stone Dust, head back to the Assembler to make yourself some Clay. With the Clay in hand, you’ll unlock access to the Furnace building. With one built, you can finally use the Coal.
What Can You Craft With Coal?
With the Furnace and some Coal, you can craft up various forms of Glass, along with several bars that can be used in crafting recipes and upgrades. The glass for example can be turned into Lenses that are used for various Irrigation Hose and Vacuum Harvester upgrades. Meanwhile, the bars can be transformed into numerous decorations along with items for late-game upgrades to the mech. There’s a lot you can do with Coal, so stocking up is far from a bad idea. You might also want to get lots of Rocks and other minerals while you’re at it.
