Crowd Control, also known as CC in games like Diablo 4, is one of the many stats that is constantly referenced without any real explanation for what counts as CC. Considering how many skills and effects rely on the use of Crowd Control, I think it’s important to outline exactly what it means.
What are Crowd Controlled Enemies in Diablo 4?
Crowd Control is any effect that slows or stuns an enemy in Diablo 4. As a Twisting Blades Rogue, I have the ability to slow enemies with Puncture and stun them with my stab. Both of those are considered CC effects. So if I have 15% increased damage to Crowd Controlled enemies, those effects would activate the damage. All of the effects in the game can be found below.
Every Crowd Control Effect in Diablo 4:
- Slow – Enemy movement is slowed by a small percentage.
- Daze – Attacks can’t be used by the enemy.
- Knockdown – One of the most powerful CC effects, this will bring enemies to the ground with no ability to attack.
- Knockback – This simply pushes the enemy further away from you.
- Fear – Enemies will run away from you.
- Stun – The enemy will not be able to move or attack.
- Immobilize – Simply stop an enemy in its tracks.
- Tether – An effect that holds enemies in a small area like a chain.
- Chill – Slows down enemy movement.
- Frozen – With enough Chill, enemies can freeze entirely.
If any of these are applied to an enemy, they are considered Crowd Controlled enemies as long as the effect is active. So that damage boosts against CC you have will stop once the effect is gone. There are plenty of other status effects that don’t count as CC in Diablo 4, though.
