One thing is certain in Wo Long Fallen Dynasty; you will be using the deflect mechanic more than anything else if you want to make it further than the first boss. Like many of the other mechanics in the game though, there are supporting stats such as deflect difficulty that can change the effectiveness.
By the sound of it, you would think that deflect difficulty would affect the difficulty of the mechanic. In other words, it would change the window in time that the parry-based defense would work. Wo Long Fallen Dynasty, however, uses the stat in a much different way that we will explain so you do not have to wonder any longer.
Wo Long Fallen Dynasty – What is Deflect Difficulty?
Watching your Spirit Gauge is one of the most important skills you can learn in this souls-like, and it serves as a stamina system so that we all have to use our attacks wisely. Deflect attempts will even use some of the Spirit Gauge, which prevents players from spamming it. That is where the difficulty stat comes in.
Deflect difficulty effects how much of the Spirit Gauge is used each time you attempt a deflect or dodge. The higher the percentage is on the stat, the less the Spirit Gauge will be consumed on each deflect attempt. As a general rule, the heavier the weapon, the lower the percentage will be.

Having the deflect difficulty stat around 100% is your safest bet in Wo Long Fallen Dynasty. It is a good rule of thumb to follow, but you can get much higher or lower depending on the build you are using. Just keep in mind that you will be spending a ton of time deflecting in Wo Long, so you will either need higher percentages or master the deflect mechanic, so you gain some spirit.
