Regardless of the shooter, assault rifles are usually the most popular weapons, and that sentiment remains true for Battlefield 2042. In season 4, some new weapons were added, and the assault rifle class expanded, so this could change what the best rifle option is in the most popular class.

At this point in the game, most of the ARs are at least viable, and there are plenty to choose from within the sandbox. However, many of you want the best options so that you can slay out on the map, and we’re here to help with our Battlefield 2042 best assault rifle guide.

Battlefield 2042 – What is the Best Assault Rifle?

With the most recent updates for Season 4, the RM68 is the best assault rifle in the game, and it’s not really close for the time being. This rifle has everything you need including damage, recoil control, and fire rate. You can melt enemies at close range or you can laser them at a distance. Not to mention that it has canted sights and a build in suppressed muzzle that contains recoil control.

In second place, we have the M5A3 assault rifle in Battlefield 2042. When the RM68 inevitably gets nerfed, the M5A3 will likely go back to being the top selection for any AR player. Like the RM68, the M5 is viable at nearly every range in the game and is incredibly easy to unlock for new players.

While Season 4 is still live, you should take advantage of the RM68 in the battle pass. This is free for everyone and the only requirement is to reach level 40 in the pass. Once you reach the right level, the RM68 is yours and you can start leveling the weapon in Battlefield 2042.
