Coming to all platforms in April, Minecraft Legends is Mojang’s newest entry in their popular franchise. Presented in a very different fashion from the previous titles, the game belongs to a completely different genre. But of course, their roots are still in the original Minecraft to a point that long-time fans won’t feel like they’re out of the loop here. Let’s see what Minecraft Legends is like.
What Type of Game is Minecraft Legends? – Answered
Minecraft Legends is an action strategy game, just as it’s described on its official pages. Steam labels it as Strategy, Action, Multiplayer, Fantasy, and Tactical. And all of those titles apply to what this game offers as its main features.
The main story is focused on fending off the Pigling invasion directly from the Nether, and players will have to gather their resources, recruit wild animals and build their fortress and weapons to stand up against their seemly endless swine army. With a banner in your hands, form your army to overcome this imminent threat from another dimension.
And the gameplay happens just like described. Wandering around the map, your objective is to ensure your army will grow bigger and stronger until the point you can overwhelm your enemies with no problems. You can adopt new formations and tactics on the run to answer to your opponent’s buildings and strategies, so both physical and wits battles are happening at the same time.

You can play it solo or with friends, and there’s also a PvP mode included. With a new world being generated in each match (just like regular Minecraft), no battle will be exactly the same as before, so bring your best strategy to conquer your foe’s base before they can take yours!
If you’re expecting another cozy, relaxed experience like the regular title, this might not be the best game for you. But if you’re looking for large scaled battles with various strategies where you must think outside the box to outsmart your opponent, this is precisely the game for you. Oh, and don’t forget that it all happens in Minecraft aesthetic. I love that.
